Building on the success of Witkacy 2009 last fall in London, Kevin Anthony Hayes, with the support of an American and Polish team has evolved this three day international symposium which will examine the life and work of the prolific Polish writer artist Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz , "Witkacy".

A multi-talented artist, painter, poet, dramatist, composer and writer, Witkacy is perhaps one of the most interesting and mysterious artists to emerge from the explosion of creativity from the beginning of the last century.  His creative investigations into existence, meaning and self-expression must truly be considered an important contribution to the art of his time which is for sure still relevant today.

Witkacy 2010 will incorporate art, drama as well as new perspectives about his life through the presentation of his art, texts and scholarly lectures providing new insights and understanding about Witkacy and his life from some of the greatest experts from this highly specialised field from Poland, the U.S.A. and elsewhere.

Witkacy 2010 will be held in the Kosciuszko Foundation's Washington DC Office from April 29 – May 1, 2010.
