Frank Wilczek Prize
The Professor Frank Wilczek Prize for Young Scientists in Physics, Astronomy, and Related Fields.
This award recognizes outstanding young scientists who have made significant discoveries in physics, astronomy, or related scientific disciplines.
The Frank Wilczek Prize has been awarded every two years since 2019. It is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University and the Kosciuszko Foundation.
The award is overseen by Professor Frank Wilczek and the Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science at Jagiellonian University. The prize consists of a gross award of $12,000 USD. It is funded by The Kosciuszko Foundation and the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and
Applied Computer Science at Jagiellonian University.
Prof. Frank Wilczek is a distinguished American physicist of Polish descent and Professor of Physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2004, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics together with Hugh David Politzer and David Gross for the discovery of asymptotic freedom in the theory of strong interactions between elementary particles. In 2012, he was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by Jagiellonian University.
