The Race to Save Ukraine – Panel Discussion

As we approach the end of the second year since Russia’s open invasion of Ukraine, please join us for a conversation about the situation on the ground in Eastern regions of the country and how Ukrainian civilians—with international support—are reinforcing front-line defenders, providing medical aid, evacuation vehicles, and other urgently needed gear.

The work of the participants, who all met as a result of the war, has been featured in the New York Times and Science magazine, as well as on CNN and Politico.

There will be an hour of conversation, followed by audience questions, and a reception with light hors d’oeuvres.

Participants:

Dr. Olga Shpak, an internationally renowned scientist born and raised in Kharkiv who worked for many years in Russia but returned to her hometown in February 2022 to support the defense of Ukraine. With the help of international partners and Assist Ukraine, she has delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars of aid directly to front-line regions to meet the most critical needs.

Anna Husarska, a Franco-Polish journalist, political analyst, and former staff writer at the New Yorker, who is working out of Poland and has partnered with Dr. Shpak to bring vehicles and a wide range of gear into Ukraine.

Art Davidson, an American environmentalist and author, as well as one of the founders of Assist Ukraine, a US-based charity created to help with the current crisis, which raises funds for vital equipment and a children’s orphanage relocated from an unstable area of the country to southwest Ukraine.
