The Kosciuszko Foundation Western New York Chapter, in collaboration with the Polish Chair of Culture at Canisius University, invites you to:

Symposium Honoring the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Francis Fronczak, M.D.

Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.

Dr. Fronczak was the first Polish American to earn a medical degree from the University of Buffalo and served as the long-time Public Health Commissioner for the City of Buffalo. Renowned for his innovative leadership in public health, he gained international recognition for his war relief efforts in Poland during and after World War I.

He was also a close friend and confidant of the famous pianist and statesman, Ignacy Paderewski.

The symposium will feature esteemed speakers, including:

  • Andrew Kier Wise, Professor of History at Daemen University
  • Wlodek Batog, Professor of History at the University of Warsaw
  • Tomasz Pudlocki, Professor of History at Jagiellonian University
  • Christopher Blackburn, Professor of History at the University of Louisiana at Monroe
  • Gregory Witul, local writer

 

This event is free and open to the public.
