About the Speakers

John Palmer, P.E. Director of Strategic Partnerships and Operations, Manufacturing & Technology.

John Palmer is the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Operations for Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology Global Business Unit.

He is responsible for leading the advancement of M&T’s strategy, leading customer engagement, and identifying opportunities that continue to shape the future.
Before that, John was the President of the Industrial & Advanced Technology Business Unit of CH2M where he was responsible for leading the global business unit that served the electronics (semiconductor, flat panel display, photovoltaics, electric vehicles and batteries), life sciences, advanced facilities (data centers, research labs and universities), and manufacturing (consumer products, automotive, metals, heavy manufacturing) markets.
John was with CH2M for 20+ years holding other positions including Sr. Vice President – Advanced Technology; Vice President – Asia; and several project leadership positions around the world.

He served on the Board of Directors of three international joint ventures based in Japan, China, and the USA and operating globally to provide services to multinational companies.

John has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and is a registered Professional Engineer.

Jared DeMeritt, Poland AP1000 Project Manager

Jared DeMeritt is the Project Manager for Poland’s AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant project. He is responsible for planning and managing the delivery of three units to our customer, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe.
He has been a member of project and commercial management teams in the Nuclear, Security and Environmental (NS&E), Power, and Energy global business units, and supported the corporate team as head of Financial Planning and Analysis.

Jared has over 20 years of experience with nuclear power plant technologies and, prior to joining Bechtel, supported the U.S. Navy nuclear program as a lead test and systems engineering for Northrop Grumman’s Reactor Plant Planning team.

Prior to joining the Poland AP1000 Project, Jared served as the Operations Manager for the Nuclear Power business line. In this role, he was the lead negotiator for the consortium team that made the Poland project possible and solidified the partnership between Bechtel, Westinghouse, and Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe.

Jared has a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering Systems with a focus in Nuclear Energy from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, a master’s in engineering management from Penn State University, and is a registered Professional Engineer.
