RECENT EVENTS:
In collaboration with the Polish Club of Denver and the Polish Embassy in Washington, DC, the KF Rocky Mountain Chapter organized an exhibit on a little-known episode in the history of the Holocaust.
A small group of Polish diplomats in Switzerland, known as the “Ładoś Group.” The Group, also known as the Bernese Group (Polish: grupa berneńska or Grupa Ładosia), refers to a coalition of Polish diplomats and Jewish activists during the Second World War. Operating in Switzerland, they developed a clandestine system for the illegal production of Latin American passports. This effort was aimed at saving European Jews from the Holocaust by providing them with documents that could facilitate their escape from German Nazi-occupied territories.
The exhibit, which was created by the Pilecki Institute, was presented at the Polish Club of Denver and St. Joseph’s Polish School in November 2023. Historian Alina Nowobilska, who specializes in the history of Central and Eastern Europe, narrated the exhibit.
The Kosciuszko Foundation is dedicated to promoting educational and cultural exchanges between the United States and Poland and increasing American understanding of Polish culture and history.
