Job Announcement: Kosciuszko Foundation Visiting Professorship at the University of Warsaw

The Dean of the Faculty of Artes Liberales, University of Warsaw, and the President of the Kosciuszko Foundation, Inc., are seeking applications for the Kosciuszko Foundation Visiting Professor position for the 2025/26 academic year.

This position is jointly sponsored by the Kosciuszko Foundation, Inc. and the University of Warsaw and will run for five months, from October 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026.

About the Position

Senior American scholars from U.S. universities with distinguished accomplishments in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences are encouraged to apply for the Kosciuszko Foundation Visiting Professor role. Proficiency in the Polish language is not required, as instruction will be conducted entirely in English.

The Kosciuszko Foundation Visiting Professor position provides a unique opportunity for academic collaboration and cultural exchange between the United States and Poland, furthering the mission of the Kosciuszko Foundation and the University of Warsaw.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach 60 hours per semester
  • Hold a minimum of two office hours per week
  • Deliver at least two public lectures
  • Actively participate in the academic community of the Collegium and the University
  • Reside in the Warsaw area for the duration of the professorship

The Visiting Professor will be appointed by the Collegium Artes Liberales, an integral component of the Faculty of Artes Liberales, which provides educational opportunities for all University of Warsaw students. The Collegium has developed a distinctive academic program modeled after the curricula of U.S. liberal arts and sciences colleges. This program seeks to foster an understanding of the interconnectedness between the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, while simultaneously cultivating critical thinking and civic engagement.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) in a discipline within the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences
  • Substantial research and teaching experience

Salary and Benefits

The University of Warsaw offers a competitive salary. The appointment for the Kosciuszko Foundation Visiting Professor position is for a period of five months. Please note that accommodation and travel expenses are not provided by the University.
