Marek Skulimowski’s Appointment to the National Library of Poland’s Executive Board

The Kosciuszko Foundation is delighted to share that Marek Skulimowski, our President and Executive Director, has been appointed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Hanna Wróblewska, as a member of the newly formed Executive Board of the National Library of Poland (Biblioteka Narodowa).

The Board consists of 20 esteemed members, with Professor Zdzisław Pietrzyk serving as Chairman and Professor Barbara Zybert as Vice-Chairwoman. This distinguished body plays a critical role in shaping the direction and operations of the National Library of Poland, ensuring its continued excellence in cultural and academic preservation.

The official ceremony took place at the Pałac Rzeczypospolitej in Warsaw.

The tasks of the Executive Board include:

  • Providing opinions on the directions and programs of the Library’s research activities, as well as evaluating plans and reports on its scholarly endeavors.
  • Inspiring and assessing the outcomes of scientific projects.
  • Advising on matters related to the Library’s core activities.
  • Offering guidance on the development of the Library’s academic staff.
  • Reviewing the Library’s annual substantive report.
