Kosciuszko Foundation and ING Bank Slaski Strengthen Polish-US Business Ties

The Kosciuszko Foundation, in partnership with ING Bank Slaski, proudly hosted a landmark event aimed at boosting Polish investments in the United States and enhancing trade relations between Poland and the U.S. The conference, titled "New Business Frontiers—Leveraging Transatlantic Partnership in the New Global Economy," took place on September 12, 2024, at the EXPO XXI Center in Warsaw. Key figures from business and government gathered to explore the potential for deeper collaboration between these two vital economies.

Among the key speakers was Jerzy Buzek, Chairman of the EFRWP Foundation Council, former Prime Minister of Poland, and former President of the European Parliament. The event drew representatives from top Polish companies, government institutions, and key players in international trade and investment, making it a crucial platform for discussing new business opportunities.

The event featured panel discussions with representatives from Poland’s major corporations, including Tele-Fonika Kable, ASSECO, ELEMENTAL, and CanPack, who shared their insights on navigating the challenges of transatlantic business expansion. The wide attendance and dynamic discussions showcased the growing interest and potential for more robust economic collaboration between Poland and the U.S. Polish media also attended the conference.

Marek Skulimowski, President and Executive Director of the Kosciuszko Foundation, highlighted the event’s importance for both countries: “The Kosciuszko Foundation is deeply committed to fostering stronger economic ties between Poland and the United States, and the organization of this conference represents a key step toward that goal. This conference not only offered a platform for business leaders and innovators but also reconnected Kosciuszko Foundation alumni, demonstrating the Foundation’s enduring legacy in fostering educational and professional excellence on both sides of the Atlantic.”

At the event’s opening, the Kosciuszko Foundation signed a cooperation agreement with the Warsaw School of Economics. The partnership aims to foster mutual while promoting joint events and securing funding for critical projects. “It marks a milestone in our mission to build bridges through education and business, ” commented Skulimowski.

Recent geopolitical and geo-economic trends have boosted business activity between the U.S. and Poland. While U.S. investments in Poland have historically been substantial, growing Polish companies are now increasingly targeting the larger and more diverse U.S. market.

Michal H. Mrozek, Executive Vice President of ING Bank Slaski and Kosciuszko Foundation Trustee, emphasized the pivotal role of financial and diplomatic infrastructure in supporting these new business ventures: “Fast economic development over the past three decades has provided for the rapid growth of Polish corporations, with an increasing number seeing their next step of business development in much larger and more diverse markets, such as the United States. The current favorable geopolitical and regulatory environment also contributes to this positive momentum,” Mrozek said.

Mrozek also praised the collaboration between ING Bank Slaski and the Kosciuszko Foundation in organizing the event: “I am proud that ING Bank Slaski, a leading international bank on the European market, could join forces with The Kosciuszko Foundation, a leading Polish-American NGO, to provide an excellent platform for discussion around these key themes and best practices related to new business frontiers arising in the U.S. market on the back of the strengthening transatlantic alliance,” he said.

We are grateful to ING Bank Slaski and the EXPO XXI Center for their invaluable support in making this event a success,” concluded Skulimowski.

As the Kosciuszko Foundation and its partners continue to foster relationships in education and business, events like these play a crucial role in shaping the future of Polish American ties.
