The John PAUL II Catholic University in Lublin Summer Program 

This year the Kosciuszko Foundation offers a number of scholarships to American students of Polish descent to take part in Summer Study programs in Polish language with the John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin. The scholarship covers program fees for the courses from 2 to 8 weeks long: 2-week course: 3-15 July and 24 July -5 August; 3-week course: 3-22 July and 24 July -12 August; 4-week course: 3-29 July and 24 July-19 August; 5 week-course: 3 July-5 August and 24 July -26 August; 6 week course: 3 July-12 August; 7 week course: 3 July-19 August and 8 week course: 3 July-26 August.  

Program fees include: tuition, a Polish language textbook, accommodation in double room, meals, tourist program as well as cultural program and a non-returnable fee). The Kosciuszko Foundation pays program fees directly to the Jagiellonian University on behalf of Tomaszkiewicz – Florio Scholarship winners. Scholarship recipients are responsible for payment of the $75 registration fee and will be responsible for a report following the program.

The Jagiellonian University Summer Program

The scholarship covers  program fees for Session A, a 4-week program; Session C, a 3-week program; or Session D, a 3-week program. Program fees include: tuition, a Polish language textbook, accommodation in double room, meals, tourist program as well as cultural program and a non-returnable fee). The Kosciuszko Foundation pays program fees directly to the Jagiellonian University on behalf of Tomaszkiewicz – Florio Scholarship winners. ELIGIBILITY: The following categories of applicants are eligible to apply for Tomaszkiewicz-Florio Scholarships:

• high school seniors who are 18 by the first day of the program

• undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors

• American citizens of Polish descent

• legal permanent residents of Polish descent (green card holders)

• minimum GPA of 3.0 or better

APPLICATION PROCESS: 

1. Complete the 2023 Summer Study Application Form.

Set aside about 30 -40 minutes to complete the on-line application form – the computer program will not allow you to save your answers, therefore you will not be able to continue at a later time.  Except when electronic service is not available, such as the remittance of official transcripts by some high schools and colleges, it is suggested that you submit your supporting materials via email.

2. Submit the following supporting materials:

• 2023 Financial Information Form

• Photo / Headshot

• Official  transcripts for the past two years inclusive of the Fall 2022 semester. The transcript may be sent in hard copy format or electronically.  We can accept electronic transcripts from on-line services such as Transcript Network by Credentials Solutions, LLC; Transcript Services at Parchment; eScrip-Safe; and from the National Student Clearinghouse. An official transcript is a transcript that is sent by the school or the above services directly to the KF or its Chapters. We cannot accept transcripts submitted by students.

• Two Letters of Recommendation from teachers or professors with whom you have studied recently.  One of the letters can come from an officer or supervisor of an organization or club in which you are active or for which you volunteer. Letters must be written on university or organization letterhead.  Please ask your recommenders to save their letters as TF23-Student’s Last Name-First Name-LOR-Recommender’s Last Name.

• Essay/Statement of Purpose regarding why you wish to take part in the summer program will be two pages, double spaced, printed on one side of the page only. The statement/essay must include your full name, TF23 and a page number on each page of the essay.

Use this file naming convention for all supporting materials :TF23-Your Last Name-First Name-Description of the Item; Examples:TF23-Nowak-Emilia-FIF; TF23-Nowak-Emilia-Photo; TF22-Nowak-Emilia-Essay;

Acceptable formats for photos include .pdf, .jpg and .jpeg; Acceptable formats for documents include: .docx and .pdf

WHERE TO APPLY:

If there is a KF Chapter near the high school or college which you attend, submit a .pdf of your on-line application form and your supporting materials to your local KF Chapter.

KF Chapters review application and supporting materials and forward materials together with their recommendations to the KF office in New York City, where final decisions are made.

* All scholarship applications, transcripts and supporting materials must be received by the deadline date.

Scholarship winners will be required to submit:

• RODO Data Processing Form – EU requirement

• Health Forms signed by applicant’s doctor
• Proof of Health Insurance
• Credit Approval Form (optional)
